I keep meaning to read The Artist’s Way and keep forgetting to see if my library has it. Writing down the title now, and I will see if they have it. I have heard many creatives talk about how much they loved this book.
Thank you so much for including my writing in your post Anna! I am so pleased you enjoyed it 😊
My pleasure! I've only recently re-discovered the joys of visiting a library, after setting out to be more intentional with my spending (it's far too easy to order a book online!) and found a couple of lovely books already. I hope you're able to find The Artist's Way at yours!
I really want to read The Artist's Way - this has promoted me to finally do this. Through circumstance, I've been solo-dating for all of my adult life. I want to push myself to do solo-dates without my phone though.
I'm so used to getting my phone out when I'm awkwardly sitting somewhere alone or waiting in line, it's a tough one to break! I think solo dates can be a special kind of nourishing, and something we perhaps don't celebrate often enough! Enjoy The Artist's Way - let me know what you think!
Really enjoyed this, Anna. I find myself feeding my creativity more consciously than I have in a long time, and it occurred to me last week that this is my equivalent of the artist's date. Just putting a little more intention into what I consume and, as you say, being more mindful while consuming/doing and suddenly the creative energy is brimming. Books, films, documentaries, articles, podcasts, walking, taking photos ... all filling my well. And yes to the solo cinema date. I did that in the autumn for the first time since becoming a parent (my daughter is approaching 10!!) and immediately remembered how and why it matters. There will be more solo trips this year.
Thank you Claire - I do agree that it doesn't have to be as formal as 'an artist's date' sounds. I'm currently loving watching all sorts of films, often alone, but this was my first solo cinema trip, ever! I'm kind of sad I hadn't done it sooner, as there's definitely been movies I've wanted to see before, but for whatever reason, no one to see them with. I now know that it's actually a really enjoyable experience for me! I hope you manage to find little pockets of time for those solo trips!
Speaking of rebelling against structure - I never quite finished the full book, and didn't follow it religiously. Even the idea of dates is held loosely - whatever fits in with my life is welcome, but I don't want to become just another thing on the to do list!

I think I got a bit further than that, but after a while, I gave up on doing the activities, and skim read instead!
Thank you Luisa 💕
